Avoid NSAIDs, Embrace the Workout Soreness

Inflammation can be a good thing. Especially when it’s an acute event after exercise. It’s how the body naturally repairs itself.

Some people have excessive soreness or pain with exercise and remedy this with NSAIDs (advil, aleve, etc).

While this may provide short term relief, it will do so at the cost of long term gain.

This study further supports this concept:

”These findings provide new molecular evidence supporting the notion that NSAIDs have a direct negative influence on muscle repair after acute strain injury in mice and thus add to renewed concern about the safety and benefits of NSAIDS“

So embrace the short term soreness. It’ll make you stronger in the long run.
