What kind of movement prep is Gaelyn doing in this video?
She is performing one of the Postural Restoration Institute's (PRI) exercises to reposition her body and regain system neutrality. It's like resetting the whole body so that it starts at zero instead of negative three.
PRI is based off the concept that our body is inherently asymmetrical (includes everything from our brains to our diaphragm to our bones). Just think about the fact that humans can't walk in a straight line for example.
This inherent asymmetry can become to dominant and cause many problems.
Luckily, the modern day movement genius, Ron Hruska, has created a system to help restore some balance.
3 Basic PRI Exercises
Here are three simple exercises to get started.
Perform 1-2 sets of 4 full exhales of each exercise before your exercise.
*the above exercise can be done on the wall or on the edge of a table/couch/ottoman/pet/etc
PRI is a very complex approach.
